Fahrenheit 451: Third Post

Finally done with the book!
I was really fond of the part when Guy Montag met the wise men after his escape from the second mechanical hound. Their ideas sounded much more do-able than Montag's. At one point of the story I was amazed at how the author made Montag portrayed the fire. He portrayed it as a tricky thing that can both give and take away.
I was a little confused about the ending but the book was okay overall. You should definitely read it!

Fahrenheit 451: Second Reflective Post

So glad that Guy Montag finally realized that something has to be done. His curiosity triumphed and finally had the courage to read the books that he had stolen from the past. He also brought The Bible to an old friend and asked him to copy it for him. Now I am really curious about what is going to happen next. Hope everything turns out well for him.

Fahrenheit 451: First Reflective Post

So I've been reading this book called Fahrenheti 451. I've reached page 68 so far. The book is mainly talking about how the main character (Guy Montag) met an interestingly different girl named Clarisse and how her thinking had affected him. After Guy was acquainted with Clarisse, he soon felt a gap in his heart. He started to have doubts about his job and why the way things were. He also questioned if he was happy at his current situation or not. This is a very interesting story. It also gave me a whole new point of view in reading books and the impact it may have on your future.

Not School Related

Reading isn't my thing, but I've come across some pretty cool books, such as The Outsiders.

This is definitely one of my favorite books of all time. This book is about an average teenager names Ponyboy Curtis. He belongs in a gang call the Greasers because of their long Greasy hair. Throughout the entire book you can experience the pain and agony that Ponyboy is suffering along with him since the author depicts the details of the story very throughly. In this book you will be thrown into the life of a gang member and how he struggles for survival through harsh times such as a death of a friend, being treated like an outcast, etc. After reading this book, it gave me a whole new point of view towards my current life. If I compared my life to Ponyboy's, the "struggles" that I have is nothing when compared to his. It taught me how to get back up in hard times and how I should treasure my current life the way it is right now.

I don't have a favorite author, but S.E Hinton comes really close. She is so skilled at writing in first person while grabbing the readers thoughts by combining them with the main character's thoughts in the book itself at the same time. If you don't believe me, try reading The Outsiders. It will definitely surpass the believability that you guys currently have. Prepare to be amazed.

This Week's Reflection

This week I finished the book "North and South". Lots of people said it was a boring book but i thought it was okay. Some of the scenes in the book were really touching and romantic. The characters in the book were really realistic, especially their reactions towards certain things.

Out of all the books that we've read in our Literature class, Night was my favorite book and Elie Wiesel was my favorite author. I love how he puts all his hope about not having another holocaust in one single book. I also love how he uses symbols and the literary devices throughout his story telling.

Oh and by the way, we just came back from our graduation trip too. We went to both Malaysia and Singapore for 12 days. I had a really great time. We went to lots of places such as the Petronas Towers, Malaysia's National Park, Universal Studios Singapore, etc. We also went to two of the schools where we exchanged views on both our cultures and our education.

Reflection: King Lear

This play is mainly about a king named Lear and Gloucester and how they had suffered from their poor decisions and family problems against their sons and daughters. This play included a lot of human cruelty just as betrayal and greed.
The one thing that I have learned from this play is that love cannot be expressed by words. If you really love someone (like how Cornelia loves her father) only your actions can truly express how u feel.

Reflection: Macbeth

The play Macbeth is about a king who met three witches that foretold his future. Later on in the play the protagonist, Macbeth, became a blood thirsty person who yearned for power.

Greed can really change a man. It can convince a person to walk astray from the righteous path. Just like in Shakespeare's play Macbeth. Macbeth's greed consumed him and made him a different person. He murdered King Duncan, hired assassins to kill Banquo, and even demolished Macduff's castle along with his family, all because of greed. So I guess greed is one of the fatal flaws one can have in life.

Reflection: Romeo and Juliet

I'm glad that i just have to read the abridged version of Romeo and Juliet.
This is a really interesting play, especially in the end. I never would of thought that both Romeo and Juliet would be so passionate about each other. I mean how can they be that much in love ever since they've seen each other for the first time? There is no such thing  like love at first sight, only attraction at first sight. Well i guess Romeo is a hopeless romantic. I know that the feeling of loving someone cant be explained but i think Romeo's feelings are exaggerated.
The end of this play was really surprising. But thanks to this tragic ending, the Montague and Capulet family can finally come to a truce. Well, i guess great victory comes great sacrifice.
